Awkward! The Marketing Motivational Speaker

“Are you holding yourself back from the success you deserve? Do you want guaranteed results—or better yet, guaranteed results fast? What if I told you you can do all this without spending a dime?”
I’m sure you’ve heard this kind of talk before, and believe it or not there are motivational speakers like, Debbie Allen (a site to behold-pun intended), whose speciality this is. Allen promises to help you self-promote and become a successful entrepreneur if you follow her tips.
But let’s get serious, can a marketing motivational speaker actually help you market your small business more effectively? Their speeches often sound more like MLM recruiting meetings than sound marketing advice, and I have to say I’m really dubious about this stuff.
I’m just not convinced hiring an outside motivator will really help you market your business better, because getting excited about growing your business is useless unless you have the skills to market it. What’s more, the money you would spend to hire a motivational speaker or attend one of their seminars could be more wisely spent on onilne advertising (PPC), an email campaign, a print advertisement or conducting market research.
What will get you pumped up about your business is seeing customers come in the door and watching sales revenues increase. Just get the right tools and know-how in place (and a solid marketing plan) and then you can really start to see success.
